The comfortably furnished DESIGN-rooms are in several different color schemes and are amongst others, equipped with utterly new bathrooms, design furniture and lamps from brands such as Virta, deluxe beds, a flat screen TV, laminated floors from the world famous designer Karim Rashid, custom made carpets by COLOR EXPLOSION by SIEGER-Design, air conditioning and much more. All rooms are equipped with soundproofed windows. We offer free Wi-Fi and SKY-Entertainment.

CITYHOTEL - ARCHITECTURE
The building originated in the years 1951-53 based on the drafts created by the renowned Hanoverian architect Prof. Dr. Dieter Oesterlen (cofounder of the Braunschweiger School), which for the time, was typical city hotel with apartment buildings and shops. The main building attraction was an arranged film studio in the basement. Important Hanoverian architecture by Prof. Dr. Dieter Oesterlen:

The two main buildings composing the hotel – containing 55 design rooms in the 4-star segment – were completely rebuilt and expanded by March 2009. The last renovation took place in 2019.
In 2012 the internationally known star architect and designer Matteo Thun recreated the 30 room, 7 story tall building’s facade to become new and timeless.
Matteo Thun is in the New York „Hall of Fame” and has created (among others) the following designs: cutlery for WMF, Alessi and Villeroy & Boch, various extraordinary design hotels, the espresso cup from Illy, Lavazza and Meinl, lamps for Artemide, Flos and Zumtobel, furniture for Kartell & Wittmann, china for Rosenthal, sunglasses for Silhouette, watches for Bulgari and Swatch and much more.
Thus the design of the architecture Prof. Dr. Dieter Oesterlen in completed and the object opened its doors on the 1. August 2012, as the first designer hotel in Hannover.
It consists of 12 comfort-design-rooms, 13 Junior and 5 business suites, reaching a size up to 40 m² in the 4-star segment.
Open Space composes the layout of the rooms. The bathroom is partially connected to the bedroom through a glass wall and partially a washstand converting to a sideboard. The color palette consists of neutral, achromatic, yet warm gray-white tones which is interrupted by the colorful element of the hand-painted tiles and sink. Each room has a meter height of 2.60 and triple-glazed windows reaching to the floor. All bathrooms are equipped with floor heating.
The furnishing consists of handcrafted furniture and design classics, matching the time of origin of the hotel: Vitra Eames Organic Chairs & Plastic Side Chairs, Gubi Bestlite & Artemide lamps, natural oak parquet, LED TV as a multimedia device with HDMI and Apple applications, indirect lighting and much more.
The classical air-condition system has been replaced with an intelligent ventilation system with filtered air for a comfortable room climate. The suites consist of a separate sleeping and living room and allow for the possibility of meetings with up to 6 business partners in an exclusive atmosphere. Gastronomy is offered in the hotel bar “mini bar” and – in the former film studio – the restaurant L´OSTERIA.
The well-known “mini bar” has established itself as one of the trendiest meeting spots in the whole of the Hanoverian gastronomy. Throughout the day you can expect an open, friendly coffee bar with the premium brand “Illy” as well as delicious muffins and bagels. Towards the evening exotic contrail are mixed to rhythmical music.
The restaurant L’Osteria invites you to 700 m² of classical, Italian and an open kitchen as well as a lively atmosphere and feeling of wellbeing.
CITYHOTEL - EVENTS
Hotel Opera in the City Hotel am Thielenplatz ?
The world premiere in the City Hotel am Thielenplatz. Specifically for the hotel, the state opera in Hannover composed and staged an opera, which they performed on the 27th of April 2005 on hotel grounds. In this almost interactive opera, the audience follows the opera performers from the lobby down the staircase to the breakfast room, through the hotel corridors and rooms and back again. This way, the opera took place in all the relevant places in the hotel. The project was so interesting that the SPEIGEL TV EXTRA did a report on the opera. International Film festival in the City Hotel am Thielenplatz
From the 1st of December through the 4th 2005, the largest international film festival (at the time) “Up and Comping” took place in Hannover. It was here they presented the German and International junior film award; “International Young Film Makers Award”. The City Hotel am Thielenplatz was before and during the festival the only official film festival hotel in Hannover and therefore had the privilege of greeting film guests from around the world. On top of the accommodation, several press conferences were held in the hotel, among others the spectacular photo series of “out of this world” objects landing on the tower roof of the hotel.
